Open Source at HRT

Advancing the state of modern computing.

Our Philosophy

Open source software is foundational to HRT’s research and trading infrastructure. As a lean, technical engineering organization, we rely on open source tools every day and care deeply about supporting the communities and projects that make our work possible.

Our engineering culture emphasizes a desire to “Make it Better,” and we see contributing to open source as a natural extension of that mindset. We believe healthy OSS projects thrive when experienced practitioners contribute feedback, real-world validation, and technical improvements, and we aim to be strong, collaborative participants in the broader open source community for the benefit of all.

Featured Contributions

HRT engineers actively maintain and contribute to many open source projects, and we have open sourced a number of our own tools as well.

More Contributions

Open Source Investments

Beyond our technical contributions, HRT sponsors open source organizations like the Python Software Foundation and the Linux Foundation, among others, to support their critical work of maintaining and improving software used by developers around the world. We also provide targeted funding to maintainers of core infrastructure to help ensure that open source tools remain fast, secure, and accessible to everyone.

Community Events

We attend and present at dozens of conferences around the world centered around open source tools. Connect with us at CppCon, PyCon, FOSDEM, and many other annual events tailored to the open source community.

Stay tuned for HRT-hosted community events – such as meetups and core dev sprints – by joining our Talent Community.
